Sydney venues for intimate events and weddings

by Jane Lampe |

With our beautiful harbour, parks, and buildings in and around Sydney, we have some amazing venues for events and weddings!

It takes a special place to create the mood and a good feel for an event. And while we love a big shebang, there is nothing more lovely than an intimate event.

In the last decade we've been around, we've worked in some beautiful venues, so we thought we would put together a few ideas for you if you're looking for somewhere to hold your event!

The Mint, Macquarie Street, Sydney

The Mint has a beautiful courtyard, right in the middle of Sydney, as well as some really special rooms, in different sizes and looks!

Run by the fabulous team at Musuems of History NSW, this is a place we would really recommend.

Four Pillars Laboratory

We are long time fans of Four Pillars Gin, and the Laboratory is a fantastic space!! The copper, timber industrial fittings and attention-grabbing juniper blue bar of Eileen's Bar are so unique, and has such a great, and fun, feel!!

The bar's layout makes it more suited to a casual, cocktail style birthday or party, and as we fit it out with flowers every week we definitely know what works - sculptural shapes and brighter, lighter colours to pop against the dark setting always look incredible.

If you'd like to read more about this space we asked Matt Jones to answer a few questions for us here.

Bennelong

When you are looking for the ultimate Sydney venue, with delicious food, with a good view, and in an iconic building, how could you look further than Bennelong?

It has a gorgeous mezzanine level above the main restaurant, where you can hold anything from a private birthday meal, to a wedding!

Chiswick, Woollahra

Set within beautiful gardens, and next to their own market garden, Chiswick is the perfect spot for a relaxed long lunch. They have a fantastic private dining room that can easily be separated from the rest of the restaurant, and has direct access to the gardens for an outdoor cocktail before your meal.

The Charles

Yes, it is one of our venues :) but we are recommending it because we know through personal experience how good it is!

For a real old-school Euro vibe, and 5 star food and service, the Private Dining Room at The Charles sits in the mezzanine above the main restaurant. It is intimate, private, yet you still the beautiful feel of the entire restaurant.

The Apartment (Hotel Centennial)

The Apartment above Hotel Centennial in Sydney's Woollahra is a beautiful, light-filled private dining space that actually used to be a private residence, so it very much feels like you're entertaining at home. It seats 32 people, so it's perfect for a COVID "micro-wedding" and it's high ceilings, arched windows and tasteful furnishings are the perfect canvas to add some beautiful flowers to.

The dark timber table and mustard chairs make it tempting to incorporate pops of yellow into the flowers, but the space itself could really taken on many different looks. A modern and eclectic look pulled together with sculptural natives, seasonal flowers and foliages would look incredible, as would a bright colour palette to pop against the dark timber.
