Wow! I did not know there was such a level of floral obsession until I read this book.
Bari J. Ackerman, the author, leaves literally zero surface untouched with florals as she walks us through how to draw, decorate, cover and style every room, item of furniture, object and surface in the home. Not even the kitchen draw inserts are left bare!
Her style is bold and maximalist. There is definitely a knack to mixing so many different floral prints and having it look cohesive and inviting, which Bari breaks down into easy instructions. In the book she shares tips on how to find your style, where to find inspiration and how to mix and layer floral patterns thanks to her background in textile design. There are ideas for styling your dining table, walls and floral pillows, and the book includes a few inspiring How-To’s, such as how to sew your own pilllowcase, paint a simple flower or make your own floral smudge.
There are insertions throughout of beautiful, real flowers thanks to Bari's floral obsession. But this also got me thinking - how you could possibly add real flowers to a room when there is so much floral print about?! This book shows you how and trust me, it can be done with a “more is more” mentality!
I think anyone with a love of flowers will thoroughly enjoy this very niche book.
