Beth's Review:

Admittedly I don’t think I really knew how to dry flowers out well until I read this book. Only in recent years have dried flowers had a resurgence thanks to people and businesses demonstrating their sustainability values (before that they were more of a Grandma thing), so when I was completing my Floristry Certificate, it wasn’t on the curriculum.

Bex explains that there is much more involved than just hanging an old bunch upside down. Factors like sunlight, moisture, and heat can completely transform the dried result from muted and pale to vibrant colour. I am amazed at how much colour Bex’s dried flowers have retained and was shocked to see she had dried out varieties I didn’t know were possible.

I love Bex’s zero waste ethos in her processes (which I suppose is what drying out flowers is in the first place), which she weaves into a thorough list of “How-To’s”; Bex explains in detail how to make everything from wreaths, to botanical mobiles, to flower garlands to gift cards.

My favourite page in this book would have to be the one where Bex suggests picking flowers to dry on days of significance eg. the birth of a family member. What a nice way to pause, reflect and remember that day.

Publisher's Blurb:
