From very early on in this book you can tell that Jana Blankenship is incredibly passionate about making sure the things we put on and in our body come from the natural world.
She believes that as we start to lose touch with the scents of nature, we lose touch with a primal part of ourselves. She has therefore dedicated herself to reconnecting people with nature by creating body, skin and hair products from plant-based ingredients, with scent at the core of her work.
Her book is filled with "How-To's" for all sorts of products from body wash to deodorant to face masks to lip balms. All of these you can make from your kitchen with the help of one or two tools that you may need to buy online.
But this book is more than just recipes. My favourite chapter is the final one about maintaining balance between the mind and body, which Jana writes about genuinely; she doesn't pretend that practising self-care, gratitude, drinking lots of water, moving and sleeping is easy to make time for, but just gently encourages you to take part in these things when and if you can.
