 Beth's Review:

This must be the most comprehensive fact book about bees! Admittedly, I’ve not read any others, but the detail in this 223 pg bee bible has left me filled to the brim with bee-related knowledge.

There are five chapters, which cover everything from the history of bees, pollination and their evolution, the different bee families, how colonies work, the ins and outs of honey, beekeeping, and protecting our bee buddies.

This book has taught me why we are sometimes stung by bees (did you know they are attracted to the salt in human perspiration?!), that despite what the second half of My Girl would have me believe we shouldn’t be alarmed when we see a swarm (they are just migrating), and most essentially the importance of protecting the local bee population, and practical ways I can do this.

I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to grow their knowledge of bees, honey, or beekeeping, but also think anyone with an interest in gardening or flowers will take interest in the bee’s symbiotic relationship with plants and also enjoy the beautiful floral illustrations that are scattered throughout.

Publisher's Blurb: Bees continue to fascinate and charm us all, from novice gardeners and nature-lovers to dedicated environmentalists, and today, bees need our help more than ever. Discover the story of these incredible creatures, with The Little Book of Bees.

Bees first appeared on Earth an incredible 270 million years ago. Since the time of the dinosaurs, evolution has taken our beloved bees on an incredible journey, and today, there are 20,000 species on the planet. The Little Book of Bees is a lovely, informative book of all things bee, from evolution and communication, to honey, bee-keeping, and saving the bees, all in a beautifully illustrated gift book.
