Thank you EVERYONE for 2019

by Jane Lampe |

While we look forward to a break over the next few weeks, and a new start in the year ahead, it is always so important for us to look back on the last 12 months and appreciate what we've achieved.

For us, the year started for us in a fairly low-key fashion while I was in the middle of my treatment. We were chugging away with our regular, loyal clients, and the jobs and weddings we had booked in. But in the background I had a list of a million things I wanted to achieve with the business once it was all over.

And looking back now, I am soooo excited about what we've accomplished.

We've knocked some STUNNING weddings out of the park. Some of my favourites include Tina and Paul's summer Sri Lankan extravaganza at Sergeant's Mess in January, backing up after Valentine's Day for Natalie and Chris's wedding at Quay, Narrabri Girl Nicole and Callum's April wedding at Pier One which had a decidedly Naval theme, and Bess and Jules winter wedding in Bendooley in August was the first of 3 weddings we drove down to Bowral for this year. Our spring and summer weddings will be popping up on our blog in the next month or two!

We've loved creating floral loveliness every week for our regular clients at many shops, cafes and businesses around Sydney, and we've also been so excited to start working with some new ones too, like Hub, Alinea Chambers, Observatory Tower and Van Cleef and Arpels.

We've had a HUGE year when it comes to events, and have worked on some corkers, including a 3 day trip to Canberra where we worked with the National Gallery of Australia on their 2020 launch, flowered up the School For Life's Gala Ball for their 10th year, and created a huge living terrarium for Sorry Thanks I Love You's Veja popup!

We've also continued our great friendships with clients such as Swarovski, Fourth Wall, The Waratahs, Watson's Bay Boutique Hotel, and Sarah Humphries to name a few, and forged new relationships with The Opera House and Sydney Living Museums.

My vision for the redesign of our website and packaging came to life as we worked with artist Amy Wright, photographer Elise Hassey, and designer Mel Topham from Tomorrow People, to create a website which sets us apart, as we strive to make a mark in Sydney with our organic and natural style, and also minimise our impact on the environment with our biodegradable packaging and use of predominantly local flowers and foliage.

We have also launched a number of new products on our online store to compliment our flowers, particularly some beautiful handmade vases and coffee cups by local ceramicist Sally Cooper, and some beautiful books on anything to do with nature, and and we can't wait to add to these next year, to become the ultimate one-stop shop for all things botanical and beautiful!

We launched our Floreat Loves blog as a way of sharing all the beautiful things we love, including our regular top ten images from Instagram that inspire us each week.

And of course, since I finished my treatment in April, we've been raising money for the Royal Hospital for Women Foundation to purchase a new mammogram machine in the Breast Centre where I was treated.

And we were also very recently featured on Mark Bouris's social media, talking about how we got Floreat through my treatment.

So while the year started slow, it's finished on a massive high. And while I can say that I am now absolutely SHATTERED, I am so excited about what 2020 holds for us.

I wanted to thank everyone of you - our loyal clients and customers who we LOVE working with, the amazing growers at Sydney Flower Market who grow the stunning flowers we sell, and my beautiful staff here at Floreat who have supported me unwaveringly, and who I couldn't have achieved any of this without. Beth Abood, special mention goes to you.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! And here's to a new year and a new DECADE in 2020.

AND - for those of you who have read this far, and to thank you all, we are offering 20% off all online orders until midnight tonight (Wednesday 18 December) - Just enter Christmas20 when you check out.
