With Mother's Day coming up this Sunday, the markets are full of lots of "Mother's Day Flowers" including chrysanthemums, tulips, and cyclamen. But if we look hard enough, there are some real beauties blooming as the weather cools! Here are some of our favourite flowers we are using this month in our bouquets!
1. Cymbidium orchids
Meaning - morality and virtue
One of my favourite flowers is finally here! These look good in everything, and last so well. They come in beautiful colours, including Burgundy, tans, different shades of pink, white, yellow, orange and green. Yay!!!

2. Camellia
Meaning - love, affection, and admiration
The camellias are starting to bloom beautifully, we love them for both their flowers and their foliage!

3. Tulips
Meaning - Deep Love
We love the double tulips, because when they open up they look almost like a peony or a beautiful rose!
They come in a lovely creamy white, different shades of pink, Burgundy and purple. We also love the parrot tulips, and these come in reds, pinks and white.

4. Cyclamen
Meaning - Love and Sincere Tenderness
Most often associated with beautiful plants this time of year, we love using cyclamen as cut flowers!! Grown, and carefully picked by our friend Arietta and her Dad Tom on the Central Coast, they are so cute on their own in a little vase, but are also fun mixed into one of our bright bouquets.
They come in the most beautiful shades of pink, red, and of course white.

5. Chrysanthemums
Meaning - Happiness, love, longevity and joy
The markets are literally bursting with chrysanthemums at the moment!! And while, to be honest, I've not been a massive fan in the past, I haven't been able to go past the locally grown chysanthemums this year!!
The colours have been so beautiful, they have a lot of character, and almost have a bit of a retro feel about them!!! I've been using them in a lot of things!! Here is a great pic from Jonima's beautiful field of "Mum" Chrysanthemums.

6. Hyacinth
Meaning - The hyacinth is the flower of the sun god Apollo and is a symbol of peace, commitment and beauty, but also of power and pride. The hyacinth is often found in Christian churches as a symbol of happiness and love.
I think hyacinth are perfect in a vase on the coffee table, and I think they are best one one colour en masse.
I love white, but also soft pink and soft blue.
They have a very distinct scent, so best for people who love scented flowers. They are also very pretty in a pot, which we will be selling soon :)
7. Poppies
Meaning - Restful sleep and Recovery
Another favourite, Poppies are popping up now!! They come in such fantastic colours, and I love it that they literally pop open!!
8. Giant candle banksias
Also native to Australia, these stunning banksias have a beautiful rusty colour, and look amazing in our native bouquets, or even our botanic ones. They also dry out really nicely and are perfect if you want something to last a long time and retain it's colour.
And here are a few flowers also featured last month, but still looking good!
9. Roses
Meaning - Love
Beautiful locally grown roses are hanging in there for Mother's Day!!
My favourite varieties are princess, which are a stunning musk pink colour, honey dijon (no description needed?), Evelyn, which is a stunning, soft peach David Austin variety, and little old Cecile brunners, which are cute little button sized pink garden roses.
But I also love every other colour, so I don't know why I narrow it down :)
Our beautiful locally grown roses have so much character, and the most amazing scent. And every rose has a different scent, so in line with their colour. Nature is amazing isn't it?

10. Zinnia
Meaning - lasting friendship, goodness and remembrance
Zinnia are still hanging on for Mother's Day but won't be around for much longer! Our favourites are the green and soft pink varieties.
